Overall we could not have been happier with the end product and the process was much easier than we expected. That all being said, we could not have made a better choice in choosing Morningstar and were very lucky to have you so involved in the construction of our dream house. We knew from the minute we met you we were going to use you and here are some reasons why.
It was evident from the beginning that there was a genuineness with Morningstar that was not there with the other competitors. They did not try to push us into building a house they wanted to build or a house they had built in the past, they wanted it to be a house that we had dreamed about. This genuineness appeared throughout the process but was most evident in the planning stage where Morningstar took the time to understand what we wanted out of a house, made many wonderful suggestions in design, and were very honest and flexible with the budget.
The amount of decisions that need to be made when constructing a dream house can at times be overwhelming. We were confident that Morningstar could help guide us through the many decisions because of their experience, understanding of the market, and connections with interior designers. It was important for us to get it right - Morningstar brought all their experience and resources to bear from the beginning to ensure we were making smart decisions. When we absolutely could not make decisions up front, Morningstar allowed us the flexibility to make decisions at the last possible minute and were quick to adapt. The interior design hours that were included were invaluable to us building the house we always wanted.
We are also happy we chose Morningstar because of their attention to detail. When we look at our house it is the little things that we have fallen in love with - many of the little things we love were suggested by Morningstar. From the solid wood mantle, the fancy door to our pantry, the shelving in all our closets, the trim selections in all the rooms, the brazilian cherry floors, the solid cedar posts on our porch, the tongue and groove celings, to the claw foot tub - it is the little things that matter.
Finally, Morningstar is a small, tight knit, caring company... Sure, they are running a business, but we spent countless hours with the owners and that was really a good feeling that put us at ease. The owners were constantly at the job site overseeing the subs and even getting their own hands dirty when something was not right, or needed that little extra attention. Believe us, it is a very comforting feeling to know that your builder is not building 10 houses at a time and is always a phone call or a short drive away.
John if I had to sum it up I would say you guys genuinely cared about building our house (and as importantly us). I have worked in large companies, small companies, even owned my own company and business is as much about personal relationships as it is about anything else. You put us at ease throughout the process and we always felt comfortable being honest with you and asking questions. We did not always get the answer we wanted, but we always understood your position. Overall we could not have asked for a better outcome and we all (Shelly, myself, and even Jack!), thank you very much for everything.

This recommendation does not come lightly since this is the third newly constructed home I have owned and have worked with many contractors on both building and renovations of prior homes. Morningstar uses plans and designs that are aesthetically pleasing, yet maximize the functional use of space. All materials used are of high quality. There are no short cuts, cutting corners or compromises.
Having “checked in” on the house while it was being finished—I can say that Morningstar employs quality tradesmen and materials in the construction. Also, the follow-up on getting things fixed once we had moved in was never a problem. I know that Morningstar stands behind their homes in terms of guaranteeing your satisfaction. I have lived in my home now for 2 years and have been very satisfied as well as proud owner. Strangers comment to us on how beautiful our house is, and I have to agree with them.
